Learning to Distrust Yourself

"Did we cross the Manhattan Bridge already?" the middle child asks.  

"No, sweetie, the Q crosses the Brooklyn Bridge," her mother answers distractedly, adjusting the sleeping youngest on her lap.

The oldest looks up with a furrowed brow at this and says, "It goes over the Manhattan Bridge, though."

"Honey, we go in to Brooklyn on the Brooklyn bridge," her mother replies, with a look expressing amazement at her child's apparent stupidity.
